Richard Allen Deardurff, age 78 of Huntsville, Ohio passed away with his wife, son, and immediate family members by his side at 7:05 a.m. on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. He was born on March 12, 1947, in Bellefontaine, Ohio to the late Franklin E. and Berniece M. (McKee) Deardurff.

Dick is survived by his wife of 58 years Susan (Williams) Deardurff; their son Kent and daughter-in-law Jodi (Shroyer) Deardurff; granddaughter, Mrs. Renae (Mason) and great grandson Harrison G. Thomas; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by four siblings and their spouses, Joyce (Don) Smith, Joe (E. Jane) Deardurff, Paul (Mary) (Bev) Deardurff, and Everett “Gene” (Dody) Deardurff.

Dick graduated from Indian Lake High School and earned a degree in business from UNOH in Lima, Ohio. He was a Spec. 4 in the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam from 1966-1968. His army duties required him to have a robust security clearance which made his parents very proud.

Dick’s work history included Rockwell in Bellefontaine, Airstream, AccuSport, and returned to Airstream from which he retired. Dick enjoyed shooting sports, fishing, hunting, motorcycling, and boating at Lake Cumberland, Kentucky with family and friends, but his favorite activity was sitting on the “lanai” protecting his backyard from the scourge of intruding geese. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Alvin W. Metzger Post #8445 in Wapakoneta, Indian Lake Moose Lodge #1533, and Bellefontaine Fish and Game.
