Burley Eugene Hall, 82, of Cable, passed away peacefully at 10:01 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio on October 24, 1943, a son of the late Lloyd E. Smith and Martha E. (Smith) Hall Smith.
On August 21, 1971, Burley married Patricia Marie (Hollinger) Hall in Cable, Ohio and she survives, along with four sons, Christopher Eugene (RT) Hall, Timothy Eugene (Dawn) Hall, Chad Eugene (Victoria) Hall, and Douglas Eugene (Michelle) Hall; a stepdaughter, Jennifer Warner; 3 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; three half-brothers, Rick Smith, Brian Smith, and Joe Smith; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Burley was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Hall; a brother, Ronnie Hall; and his in-laws, Robert and Edna Hollinger.
A local farmer for 70 years, Burley was awarded the Champaign County Hall of Fame Farmer in 1994 and was a West Liberty-Salem FFA Honorary Farmer. He played on the Salem High School State Championship basketball team. Burley loved fishing in Okeechobee, Florida, collecting toy tractors, and watching his grandchildren show pigs.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2026, in Kingscreek Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Hall family farm, 2185 E. Kanagy in Cable to process to the cemetery. The procession is scheduled to depart the farm at 11:00 a.m. A celebration of Burley’s life will follow the graveside service from 1-6 p.m. at the Hall family farm.
Memorial contributions may be made, in Burley’s memory, to the Champaign County Pork Council for the establishment of a scholarship in Burley’s name.
