Allison Kay Knief, 29, of Lewistown, passed away peacefully at 12:01 a.m. on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio after a courageous 14-month battle with breast cancer. She was born on January 6, 1996, in Bellefontaine, Ohio, a daughter of Kevin Knief and Jana (Clary) Knief.
Allison is survived by her parents; fiancé Kyle Schmerge; paternal grandparents, Jerry and Karen Knief; a sister, Christina (Brian) Mabry; a nephew, Tate Mabry; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and dogs “Dixie” and “Roper”. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, James and Elnor Clary; Aunt, Theresa Ceylor; and paternal grandmother, Sharon (Oakley) Knief.
A 2014 graduate of Indian Lake High School, Allison went on to study Animal Science at Wilmington College and graduated with her bachelor’s degree in 2018. Allison was an assistant office manager for A.G. Boogher & Son, Inc. in Santa Fe and a member of the Logan County Farm Bureau and Rum Creek Church. She loved her family, Dixie and Roper, her Red Angus cattle, farming, flowers, and most especially being Tate’s aunt. Allison could always be found outdoors. Her favorite time of year was harvest. You could find her running the tractor and grain cart or taking photographs around the farm and of those she loved most.
Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at Sanford Funeral Home, 210 W. Hayes Street in DeGraff. Pastor Abigail Adams will officiate a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 15th at the funeral home, with visitation from 10-11 a.m. Burial will follow in Rea Cemetery in Bloomfield Township, Ohio. Casual attire is requested.
